About the Artist

Born in 1951 Bob grew up in Ohio where he hunted, fished and trapped as a young man. When he was old enough to drive, he often travelled to Michigan to fly fish in rivers such as the Au Sable, Manistee, Pere Maquette and other small streams. Travelling east he enjoyed fly fishing in Pennsylvania where his favorite go To’s were Caldwell Creek near Titusville along with Oil Creek, Broken Straw Creek, and Pine Creeks to name a few. On occasion journeying to a friend’s cabin on Spruce Creek near State College, PA. In 1978 he moved for 2 years to Denver, Colorado and fished the South Platte. In Colorado he met his soon to be wife Sue and they both fished South Williams Fork and the Blue Rivers near the continental divide. They moved back to Ohio in 1980, got married and raised a family. In 1996 they moved to Bigfork, Montana. In 2019 they retired, sold their home in Montana, and moved to Bull Shoals, Arkansas living near the majestic White River and Bull Shoals Lake.

A self-taught artist Bob’s artistry is a celebration of life’s simple yet profound wonders, deeply rooted in his passion for hunting, fishing and his love of the great outdoors. After a fulfilling career as a self-employed remodeling contractor/carpenter, he has recently opened a home- based art studio (March 2025) and works with the delicate mediums of watercolor, gouache, charcoal, graphite, and chalk.

Through his meticulous attention to detail allows viewers to appreciate the individual characteristics of every fly he portrays. His art transcends mere representation; it invites contemplation, evoking the spirit of adventure inherent in the art of fly fishing. As he continues to evolve as an artist, Bob remains devoted to capturing the essence of nature, intimately interwoven with his experience in the outdoors and love for life.
